The quality is better in the Triangle (we have a couple P1s, 918s, Carrera GTs, 959s, a Huayra, etc) but it's waaaay more inconsistent than Charlotte. I mean I was in Cary yesterday and saw an i8 and a Hamann-tuned G63 AMG, and on Monday I saw an R8 V10 right near my house, but other than that I haven't really seen anything this year.
Yep, it's pretty much like a larger Huntersville. Locals around here sometimes refer to Cary as the 'Concentrated Area of Relocated Yankees' due to the massive number of transplants from the north, but it's a very large and very wealthy town. Over 160,000 residents with an average household income of over $110,000, so there are a decent number of nice cars scattered around the area. They're just hard to spot for some reason.
Awesome find by your relative! McLarens are definitely pretty rare in NC, so it's great to see new ones popping up! I've seen a few nice cars in this area (Vantage, Elise, 991 GT3, a couple R8s, etc) but definitely no McLarens.
