I think I heard this story on Speed Channel. When Auburn/Cord started in the late 20's & 30's in Indiana, they couldn't afford to build many cars at the beginning. They drove the first car around town for a period of time, perhaps weeks, then brought it back to the garage a re-painted it in a strikingly different color. Repeat. Repeat. The gen pop were led to believe that they had many cars available, were popular & in demand. Good photo & pan, BTW.
