Modifications are generally not allowed and cars that are heavily modified may be constantly getting pulled over by traffic police, enforcement is more like a regional thing but big cities are certainly very strict, to pass the annual registration the owner may need to remove the modified parts.

I'm curious about these modified cars such as the 458. My understanding has been that China doesn't allow for significant modifications to cars. Is this true? Or is not enforced? Can people work on their own cars? Is there a loophole where cars are imported already modified, so the registration agencies can't really do anything about it? I'm interested in knowing, having seen and heard so many mixed messages over the years.
