I saw a pale yellow one of these last weekend in Niagara Falls, Ont. It was the first 512BB I've seen in person, but I was going the other way on the highway and didn't have a chance to shoot it. Still very cool to see one.
Well I figured if anyone would know about the knock off wheels it would be you ANDREWO...I know you love the older Ferrari's and your family has one. I did not know if these were stock wheels or not....
Amazing spot! Makes the GTR in the background look like a Sentra. Though, IMO, GTRs aren't attractive to begin with, so this just further emphasizes that.
Ferrari updated the 512 BB to include Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and they named it the 512i BB. This modernized the car and it made less emissions and was thought to be more reliable and driveable. That's the only differnce which made the 512i have 20 less HP, but faster acceleration and a 14MPH gain in top speed. They also made about 100 more of these then the plain 512 BB.
I have a pic of this same car from about a year ago. I saw him in Sarasota at a Mobil gas station off the interstate. The owner was German or something close to that by his accent. He told me it was a 1981 512 Berlinetta Boxer with some aftermarket items and a Bosch design injection that was rare. I think the wheel lugs are knock off racing style as well. When he pulled away it sounded like he had some exhaust mods because it wasnt the typical Italian engine. Great looking classic car, the lines are still stunning.
