I can see where you're coming from, but this is nothing compared to the linked photo that stayed featured.

Im not saying your shot is too dark, but its the only somewhat possible reason I can come up with for why this would be unfeatured.

Hey FOSC, this isn't too dark in my opinion. Look at this photo: http://www.exoticspotter.com/ferrari-458-italia-cape-town-south-africa-215327
That linked photo is MUCH darker than mine, but that stayed featured. This is just unfair as my shots just won't get attention the way they are being unfeatured. It is the same with other members who feel that they are being treated unfairly with their shots.

And thanks Sam! I'm glad you like this shot :)

You can ask Gregg why this got unfeatured, but I'm guessing its because the photo is "too dark" or something. Can't think of any other reason.

Not here you won't Jackson, the quality is quite poor. It drove past us from a distance, and my parents didn't let me go and get photos of it from close up to it. I will upload one to Flickr.

That's the exact way as I think Jackson. I only take shots of the car, as I don't want to take a photo of the scenery. If I wanted to do that, I'd become a damn nature photographer, not a car spotter. This site is for photos of exotic cars, not for photos of an exotic with some cool scenery around it. Wherever the exotic is, doesn't matter if it's in a rough area, or an upscale area of Cali, the exotic is the priority of the photo.

Like with today, I saw a Marcos Mantis GT, but I didn't get good shots of the car as I was not too close to it, and the scenery wasn't the greatest. This site needs to go back to the way it was with it being about exotic cars on the streets, not exotic cars being surrounded by a great scenic area. This is what has pissed me and a lot of other people off.

that never been the way I have thought, I have had a chance to get a lake twice, but didn't because I wanted to make the car the main part of the pic

And exactly Jackson. I still think it is about the car, not the background in the shot. Since when has car photography mattered so much about the surroundings? It's more about the time and moment you spotted an exotic.

So when people go spotting next, the first thing that will come to mind is "let's try and work a cool background into my photo to please people". This certainly shouldn't be the way things are going.

That has to be the longest comment I've ever typed. Jesus that was huge. But honestly, I'm one of quite a lot of members who are getting pissed off with the way things are going. The fact that the exotic is the minority in the photo now is pathetic. To get a perfect background for an exotic is very hard to do, as you can never tell when you will see an exotic, unless you set up a photo shoot or go to a rather well known exotic area. And I'm glad you agree Nick. The site is getting a bit over the top with what is happening, but I hope it stops and goes back to the way it was.

we thought that the mods being more active would help, but its hurting this site more. I feel a lot of the current member that have been on here since I joined will leave because they remember when it was about the car, not the shot

Can't say I fault you, Luke; this site is getting pretty erratic.

So if I posted a photo of a McLaren P1 or a Lamborghini Aventador SV with a bad background, they will be unfeatured. This is bullshit. The cars i post are really rare for New Zealand, unlike in America. I just wish people on this site appreciated how rare spots are for this little country of only 4.5 million people, compared to Americas 320 million people. This is why exotics are so rare in New Zealand. If the site continues to turn out the way it is now, I will stop uploading and find somewhere else to upload, because I find it unfair that my photos of cars that are rare in New Zealand are unfeatured due to a sh*tty background.

Since when has the background been so important in a shot? This isn't a damn competition. There is no need for a photo to have an insane background for the photo to be featured and stay featured. What if the cars in a carpark like this one? Wow, carpark, so boring, must be unfeatured as the car park is boring. Let's forget about the $500,000 car there, the carpark isn't eye catching.

I think the site should return to what it used to be like. Forget this whole cool background sh*t, and actually focus on the car that is in the shot. It could be a Reventon, or it could be a 911 Turbo, no matter what it is, let's just appreciate the spot for what it is, not the stupid background and surroundings.

I do apologise for the long comment, but these things needed to be said. The way the site is going, there will be a lot of members who will leave as their cool photos of exotics are being unfeatured due to a not so exciting background. This is why I will most likely leave soon. I take the time and effort to leave the area I live in to go spotting in the city, to find out my photos aren't actually looked at by many people, and are actually removed from the unfeatured page. I've got over 200 photos to post, and right now I don't think I will post any more realistically if they are going to get unfeatured.

Let's just get the site to a stable uploading and viewing state like what it used to be like, so the experience for members is better.
