Don't worry, LEDs last shorter that they say ;) It will be improved for sure, but I hope not in the orange way we have with the old ones in France.

It's more that a lot of the new street lamps I see are more blue than white and that lighting is more harsh or sterile than the orange lights which play off the tendency to use red wave lengths for better night vision. I fly a lot and see overhead how ugly a lot of these new lights are here in the US, so thought you were seeing the same thing there. I guess what's sad is that they make LEDs with warmer colors, but for some reason, a lot of places just get high wattage daylight bulbs and call it a day. Since they last basically forever, they'll probably never be improved when there's definitely room for improvement.

@rampante550 : thanks for the picture, but I totally disagree with you about the lights. First it's my settings and my editing that make the lights that "white", because IRL it's way more yellow. And second, us photographers of Paris are fed up with these old orange lights that don't render the right colors of our city.

But hate to see another city made uglier by the adoption of LED lights. Same bulbs as your average Walmart parking lot unfortunately.
