Description I knew this would never get featured, but I thought I would stay up! Sometimes u can't get a good picture of cars without some stuff in the way, but that didn't mean it needs to be deleted, I am just about sick and tired of how this site is turning out. Spotting is not about getting the best pictures but about the cars and their beauty. So a bush is in the way, I can't just walk up with two valets guarding it and take a better picture of the back, I just like to get two different angles.
@Melgamal Exactly! I agree completely with what you say. May take on it is this: If you can identify what the car is, then the shot is good enough. Especially in this case. While the shot, from a photography standpoint, is mediocre, and the car is cut off, I can still identify what the car is and appreciate @Mustang1's persistence and respect for the valet/owner in attaining this shot.
Additionally, I have taken NUMEROUS blurry, cut off shots that I have not posted due to these rules. However, I can still easily identify the car that I captured.
Also, I agree with the valet issues. While some valets are not that strict, this site should not encourage people to barge their way into valet parking lots and snap some photos (including license plates and even owner's faces) just to get a better quality photo. While I do agree that a spotter should do the best they can to capture a quality photo, there are boundaries that spotters should stick to. For example, I do not like to intentionally cross streets just to take better photos, and I block out faces (even if not the owner) and license plate numbers. Also, I try not to blatantly step up to a car, set up a tripod, adjust some settings, and take multiple photos. Owners (and if I had an exotic car, me too) would not like people using their cars without permission to post online. That is an invasion of privacy, almost a paparazzi-like situation. Of course, if the owners do not mind photos being taken of their car, then there is not much of an issue.
NOOO people, this site is all about having a tripod and getting your camera to the right settings in the quickest manner... LOL this is a joke of course, such nonsense this site has come to regarding the new rules... If we are going based on quality now and not just catching them in the wild we should start calling this "Exoticphotography.com" and allow car shows/dealer shots/etc. and compare who has the cleanest shot. But to refer to the rules and see that they are to be in the "wild" and now turn out some featured/unfeatured rules regarding picture quality/etc. is nonsense! Not to mention the shi**ty compression this site limits you to... 7 mb? Pshhhht my flip phone was taking 7mb pics 10 years ago....
I got a picture of this and the security came up to me and asked for ID and wanted to see the pictures to make sure I was not taking a picture of the structure of the Ritz
Spotting isn't all about getting the perfect pictures, but it is about the spontaneousness of the spot itself at the time. Spotting doesn't always work out well, and it is clear in this case as the Bentley is covered by the bush, but at least you still got a photo. Sometime photo opportunities are missed, unlike this one. Great work capturing this stunning Bentley Jackson.
