I'm looking for a build. A crazy build. One that I can start now and work on for like 20 years till it finally becomes drivable. Yeah, I know, I take too long picking cars but I need some help here. And I know my reputation on the site isn't the best but maybe this will go down as history some day.

I'm looking for a car that I can pick up for under $10,000 and throughout my life keep throwing money at it till it's as fast as possibly imaginable. A lifelong project car of sorts. I'm talking very fast. But still street legal.

Now, I don't care the brand (well, I'm not a fan of Subaru although I know someone will recommend it), I don't care the age, I don't care the comforts. It'll probably all be removed anyways but I want everyone to throw me some recommendations of a car that would make a good starting point to a crazy project.

Remember, the car itself has to be $10K or less.

But I want one that with enough work, engine swaps, massive modifications, and a lifetimes worth of money can be turned into another one of these:

Now I was originally thinking either a Saturn Sky, some sort of Datsun, or a Jaguar XJS but I don't know how good of an idea any of those are.

Have also thought about a Challenger but wouldnt have any clue which one to start with.

Z3/Z4 was another I was thinking but had forgotten about. My dad had said it was too small to fit any really powerful engines in though.
