Yes a lot were imported to us! My dad has one it is triple black with ruf wheels

My dads is a 1990 and they made 1600 of the cabs for the U.S. that year! Only a few were black on black on black

You must be mistaking it for the 944 Turbo Cabriolet, which fits the bill for what you were told.
